Hello, you. Today’s episode is all about relaxing. So, pack a jacket, grab a snack and come with me to the hills for a mini vacation. And my birthday.

So, our trip to Lansdowne began with a missed alarm. We woke up late, & by the time we hit the road, we were already way behind schedule.

But reaching our homestay minutes before sunset actually ended up being a good thing because we got to enjoy this gorgeous view straight from our balcony.

On my birthday the next morning, I got to wake up to an even more beautiful scenery and some amazing Pahadi chai.

In the end, we skipped breakfast and headed to Lansdowne town square for a big brunch and some much needed excursion.

We enjoyed this scrumptious meal at Hotel Leosh, then set out on a short hike to the gorgeous Bhulla Tal (Lake).

Paranoias aside, the boat ride and the overall view of Bhulla Tal was a dream-like experience, with all the lush greenery, clear blue skies and the Kishore Kumar songs in the background.

But it was time to jumpstart our next adventure, so we ventured out on another short hike, which could’ve been shorter had my core strength not been like a roasted marshmallow.

St Mary’s Church has been standing tall on this mountain side since 1896. While she’s slightly wounded in places, she’s still a grand treasury of architecture and tranquility. And with these pictures through the ages, even a time capsule of sorts.

But the thing that will make this 19th century church most unforgettable to me is this ethereal view of the Himalayas.

With that view locked in my mind and lenses, it was time to set out for our next stop.

Though a few decades younger than St Mary’s, St John’s Church still has an old world charm about it, complete with elegant arches, black stone construction and a porthole window.

As you can see, there was construction going on in the premises, so we couldn’t stick around for long.

After resting for a little bit at the homestay, we headed out again to visit the Darwan Singh Museum, which is said to hold rarest assortment of Garhwal Rifles.

On our way to the town square, we stop by the Mainwaring garden to capture some amazing shots.

We also climbed up to the Mainwaring view point to catch a glimpse of some more gorgeous mountains.

We finally made it back to the town square, had some evening tea at Leosh, then just wondered around the streets to explore as much as we could.

The famous Trip Travel café was unfortunately not open at this point, so instead we decided to check out this cozy little place called the Red Roof Resort. And we were not disappointed.

I passed out cold the minute we set foot in the homestay, so I thought I’ll show you what happened a little earlier in the day instead.
